Stools is an installation of 6000 stools used in China since the Ming Dynasty, by the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei in Berlin.

Ai Weiwei, the Chinese famous artist, has developed a new installation made by stools. This new piece generates a beautiful “rug” made by different but very similar stools. They are like copies of the most basic shape of a stool we could have in our minds.

However, this is not the first (and probably the last) exhibition made by stools by the Chinese artist. As we could enjoyed as well his work at Venice Art Biennale, another huge installation was ready to keep our attention. The meaning of the stool does not keep in the meaning of a daily object, it goes further. In China, the stool is a symbol of family, passing down from generation to generation. And now, it has become an symbol of the Chinese cultural revolution as an object against the mass production system which China is known as the best example.

We would like to invite you to check Ai Weiwei´s website.
